The same therapy dogs that were there for the people of Newtown, CT are there for the people of Boston.
The Lutheran Church Charities’ K-9 Parish Comfort Dogs arrived in Boston yesterday. The dogs are set to remain in Boston until Sunday, and possibly longer depending on the needs of the community. They’re stationed at First Lutheran Church, which is a few blocks from the finish line of the marathon. They’re also visiting area hospitals where over 100 victims are being treated.
Some dogs went to Tufts University Hospital, where one young woman lay awaiting her second surgery for a shattered leg.
Lutheran Church Charities President Tim Hetzner says, “The dogs just calmed her down. She was being monitored and you could see her heart rate, her pulse, go down.”
